Acacia Theatre Company

2018 - 2019 Season: Firm Foundation

“The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living.” Hebrews 11:1, The Message

How firm a foundation! This season Acacia will look at faith from a variety of angles. We’ll laugh and sing with the Sanders as they share a family faith in the spirit of the Christmas season, we’ll join the Callifers in the mystery of a faith that seems lost and we’ll accompany Sophie as she wonders, with great depth of imagination, what to do when that foundation is shaken. We hope you will join us in exploring faith through theater!

The Endurance of Light

July 19-21, 25-28, 2019

“Nothing, not even the tiniest particle, disappears without a trace,” Hildegard von Bingen declares to Sophie, a scientist and wife grappling with multiple miscarriages. Refusing to leave the house, Sophie reads constantly and imagines lively conversations with Bingen, Albert Einstein and Earnest Shackleton, who speak a hope that she struggles to hear. A selection of Renaissance Theaterworks’ 2017 BR!NK New Play Festival, The Endurance of Light is a real and whimsical story about faith in all its void and form.
